[USA] Salvadoran National, 42, Charged in Hit-and-Run That Killed Three in Salisbury, North Carolina

Around 10:45 p.m. on July 18, 2026, a two-vehicle crash occurred on Mooresville Road in Salisbury, North Carolina (Rowan County), USA. According to local CBS affiliate WBTV, ABC affiliate WSOC TV, and other outlets, two of the three occupants of one vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, and the third died after being airlifted to a hospital. The victims were identified as David Garcia-Obrajero, 63, Homero Pineda Delgado, 47, and Esteban Salazar Hernandez, 32.
Salvadoran national Javiel Pena Sola, 42, who was driving the other vehicle, allegedly left the roadway and fled the scene but was located with the help of a police K-9 unit. He has been charged with three felony counts of hit-and-run resulting in death. On July 22, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) lodged a detainer, citing his prior hit-and-run conviction.
