Nagasaki Customs Refers Vietnamese National Over Attempted Methamphetamine Smuggling via Postal Parcel Bound for Spain

Nagasaki Customs announced, effective July 29, 2026, that it had referred a Vietnamese national to the relevant authorities on suspicion of violating the Customs Act (possession of prohibited goods for transfer, among other charges). The individual is accused of concealing approximately 212.78 grams of methamphetamine inside an international postal parcel that had departed Vietnam, transited through Singapore, and was addressed to Spain, in an attempt to smuggle the drug. The parcel is believed to have been discovered during a Nagasaki Customs inspection as it passed through a postal handling point in Japan.
