Aichi Prefectural Police announced in August 2026 that it had arrested a laborer and Nuevo Emanuel Sanchez, 21, a Brazilian national, on suspicion of robbery. According to reports by Chukyo TV News and other outlets, they are accused of threatening a taxi driver with a knife in the Hishino-dai area of Seto City in June of that year and stealing approximately 45,000 yen in cash.
The laborer was separately re-arrested over an incident the previous September in which he and another accomplice allegedly threatened a part-time convenience store employee with a knife in Seto and stole 22,000 yen. The city has also seen another reported convenience store robbery involving a Brazilian national identified as Dennis Kitahara, 27, and police are investigating possible links between these cases.
